St Mary's church is on Church Crescent, Blaengwrach (SA11 5SL).  At the Mc Donald's Roundabout on the A465, take the exit for Cwmgwrach and at the mini-rounabout turn left.  Turn right and then immediately left, avoiding going up the steep hill of Empire Avenue.  The church is round the corner and there is parking for a number of cars.

St Mary's is an historic part of our community, and following repairs and renovation, it was re-opened in September 2008 since when it functions as a community hall as well as a place of worship.  If you would like to sue the building, please contact the vicar or parish office.

There has been a church on the site for 400 years since a local land owner, Gerorge Williams petitioned the Bishop to permit construction of a church in the village.  Up till that time, the residents were supposed to walk over the mountian to the church in Glyncorrwg.

St Mary's church was originally known as Y Capel Fach and has undergone complete renovation on two other ocassions during it's history.  As part of the work in 2007, the interior was upgraded and historic wall monuments were conserved and restored.  Prior to the project these monuments were illegible, but now their inscriptions add the our understanding of our local history.

The finished building, now used by voluntary groups, training groups, church groups and service providers.

The building was opened on September 19th by Assembly Member Gwenda Thomas and Bishop David Yeoman.

If you would like to visit the church to see the monument that have been conserved and to discover more of the local history, then please contact us.
