Who we are
We are the Church in Wales, group of churches in the Upper Neath Valley. We cover Clyne, Resolven, Cwmgwrach and Glynneath. You are very welcome to join us for worship or any of our events. If you would like someone to listen and pray with you, please get in contact. Some 10% of the communities speak Welsh and most of our services include bilingual elements.

What we believe
We are a Christian church, part of the Church in Wales, working creatively with other local congregations in our area. We believe that we are here to enjoy serving God in our lives. Please visit our Church in Wales web site to see our credal statements. www.churchinwales.org . Here is one of the parishoners on Easter day 2010 who got baptsied in the River Nedd that flows through the parish.

Our leadership
The Vicar is Peter Lewis, who came to work in these churches in June 2001. He is married to Martine and and has a step son, Daniel. There are many others involved in leading the worship and mission of church life.

Parish History
We operate out of 3 different church buildings.
In the late 1590s or early 1600s, a small church was built at Blaengwrach, Y Capel Fach, which is now called St Mary's. It was part of the grouping of churches with Glyncorrwg, a good walk over the mountain.
St Cadoc's, Aberpergwm in Glynneath was established around 1810 as a private chapel but became its own parish church in 1841. There is some evidence that there was a church building in the vicinity prior to this date.
In 1850 a Victorian church was built for Resolven, called St David's and was originally part of the same grouping as Blaengwrach. In 1892 Resolven became a separate parish and in 1940 Blaengwrach became attached to St Cadoc's in Glynneath forming the parish of Aberpergwm with Blaengwrach.
In 2004, as part of a diocesan plan to group parishes, the Vale of Neath Parish was formed from all three churches.
